Dragons Begin Quest for CAA Championship Sunday

SAINT HELENA ISLAND, S.C. - The Drexel golf team will begin its quest for a Colonial Athletic Association championship on Sunday at the Cotton Dike Course at Dataw Island. The Dragons are coming off an impressive second place finish at the Mountaineer Invitational and a match play victory against USC Beaufort.
Drexel has played well on this course over the last few seasons. The Dragons finished in second place two years ago, their top postseason finish ever, at Dataw. Last year, Drexel finished in third place as Drue Nicholas tied for fourth overall at four-under par. Angelo Giantsopoulos closed his career at Drexel by finishing tied for seventh overall.
Nicholas, Griffin Mitchell and Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa are all familiar with the course and had success there last year. Mitchell led after the opening round, while Nyamukondiwa was tied for 26th overall with teammate and now volunteer assistant Jeffrey Cunningham.
The tournament will get underway Sunday morning with 18 holes beginning at 8:30 a.m. Monday will feature another 18 at 8:30, with the final round taking place on Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. Live scoring will be available by clicking here.
