Mt. Pleasant, S.C. – The Drexel men's soccer team was slighted by Charleston in the conference opener on Saturday afternoon. Charleston was given a penalty kick in the 90^th minute that proved to be a difference-maker.

The Cougars struck first. In the final seconds of the first half, Charleston broke through the backline of the Dragons and finished the play with six seconds remaining until teams headed to the locker rooms.

The Dragons checked in with a goal in the 78^th minute. Cesar Banacloy played a ball from the right side of the field, and Harrison Coron used his head to find the lower right side of the goal.

In the 90^th minute, Charleston scored its final goal on a penalty kick to take the lead and defeat the Dragons.

The Dragons return to action on Saturday, September 9 to open the home slate of the 2023 season. The Dragons host CAA newcomers, Campbell at 1 p.m. at Vidas Field.
