PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's soccer team scored early and made it stand up as the Dragons picked up a CAA win against the College of Charleston, 1-0 on Thursday night.
In the sixth minute, Delaney Lappin threw the ball in to Meg Tate. Tate settled and passed back to Lappin who delivered a ball into the box from distance. Casey Touey split a pair of defenders and ran onto the ball first, chipping it over the keeper for the lone goal of the contest.
Charleston had chances in the second half, generating five shots, but Molly Piso stopped all three of the attempts on target she saw, preserving the clean sheet.
The Dragons return to Vidas Field on Sunday, October 1 when they face Monmouth. At halftime, Drexel will honor alumni and present the LMK Scholarship. Opening tap is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
