
O’Malley Victorious in First Match Back as Northern Colorado Defeats Drexel, 29-16

PHILADELPHIA - Jack Janda scored a huge fall at 174 pounds as the Dragons fell in a hard-fought battle with Northern Colorado, 29-16 at the DAC. Mickey O'Malley was victorious in his first match back in over a year. Dom Findora (149) and Giuseppe Hoose (184) also scored points for DU.
After falling down 15-0 in the first three matches, Dom Findora earned the first points of the night for Drexel with a victory over Adam Busiello at 149. The redshirt sophomore recorded two falls in the first three minutes to take the early 6-1 advantage. Findora scored the first nine points of the match, picking up a late takedown in the third to cap off the 14-3 major decision win.
Janda recorded a huge six points in the 174 bout over Aydin Rix-McElhinney. Northern Colorado struck first in the closing second of the first with a takedown. Janda took control of the match in the third period. The Haddon Township, New Jersey native earned the reversal and a takedown to take the lead, 7-5. Janda followed that up with a pin with 53 seconds left on the clock to take the 6 points.
Giuseppe Hoose won his first match as a Dragon at 184 pounds. Aj Heeg had the only point through the first five minutes of the match. A third period escape and takedown was enough to get the 4-1 decision.
In his first match at 197 pounds, Mickey O'Malley made his return to the mat after missing last season due to injury. The graduate student earned a decision victory over Andrew Donahue. O'Malley recorded an early takedown in the first period and held the lead for the rest of the match up to win 5-2.
