MaGee's Career Day Leads Drexel Past Colgate, 73-56

Dragons Extend Home Winning Streak to 15 Games
PHILADELPHIA – Kobe MaGee scored a career-high 28 points and Cole Hargrove added 15 as Drexel defeated Colgate, 73-56, on Saturday afternoon at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Dragons scored the first 10 points of the game and never trailed as they improved to 2-0.
MaGee set the tone right out of the gate for the Dragons. The junior had two 3-pointers in the opening minutes and started the game by making his first seven shots. The Dragons opened up a 14-point in the first half as they held Colgate, the four-time defending Patriot League champions to just 2-for-13 shooting from behind the arc.
Drexel opened the second half with a 7-2 run and extended the lead to 15 points. The Raiders (1-1) tried to chip away as they trimmed the deficit to seven with 12:07 to play when Brady Cummins sank a 3-pointer. The Dragons answered as Shane Blakeney hit back-to-back treys to get the lead back to double figures. The Raiders couldn't make it any closer the rest of the way as Drexel won for the 15th straight time at the DAC.
MaGee scored 21 of his 28 points in the first half and eclipsed his career-high before the teams went to intermission. He finished the day 10-for-12 from the floor and was 6-for-8 from long range. Hargrove had his best game in a Drexel uniform. The junior had 15 points, knocked down three 3-pointers and had four blocked shots. MaGee and Hargrove each finished with nine rebounds, one shy of a double-double. Yame Butler also reached double digits with 13 points.
Drexel's defense held the Raiders in check all night. Colgate managed to shoot just 33 percent from the floor and only 16 percent (4-25) from deep. Drexel controlled the boards, outrebounding Colgate by 14, and blocked nine shots.
Colgate was led by Jeff Woodward, who scored 14 points. Jalen Cox added 13 points.
The Dragons have a big week upcoming at Big 5 pod play gets underway. Drexel will head to North Broad Street to take on Temple on Tuesday night, before hosting La Salle on Saturday at the DAC.
