
Waterman Earns Overtime Win as Navy Tops Drexel, 29-9

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Kyle Waterman, Luke Nichter, and Dom Petracci each earned victories for the Dragons, but came up short as the Dragon fell in an EIWA conference opener to Navy, 29-9. This was Drexel's second dual of the day, after competing in the Annapolis, Md. tri-meet that also included No. 25 North Carolina.
The first bout at 125 pounds saw Desmond Pleasant face Garrett Trotten. Pleasant got out to an early 3-1 lead in the first period, earning the opening takedown. Trotten earned a takedown of his own, plus four near fall points to swing the moment back in favor of the Midshipman. Trotten was eventually victorious, winning by a 9-4 decision.
In the next match, Kyle Waterman picked up the sudden victory win over Brendan Ferretti. Waterman found himself in a hole early on in the first period, with Geretti recording two takedowns to take a 6-1 lead. Waterman picked up a late three points to take the lead in the final seconds of the second period. A ride time point in the third for Ferretti sent the bout into overtime, but Waterman picked up the quick takedown to get the win, 13-10.
Luke Nichter had a dominant performance over Devon Dean at 157 pounds. After falling behind in the opening period 4-2, the redshirt senior scored 11 unanswered points to win by major decision, 13-4.
Drexel earned three more points in the final contest of the afternoon. Dom Petracci was victorious by decision over Alistair Larson at 285 pounds, 4-1.
