McCormack's 20-Point Performance Lifts Drexel Past Lebanon Valley, 71-30

PHILADELPHIA – A 20-point performance by Cara McCormack lifted the Drexel women's basketball team over the Lebanon Valley Flying Dutchmen on Sunday afternoon, 71-30.
BY THE NUMBERS
McCormack had a near-perfect day, missing the mark on just one shot. The graduate student shot 8-for-9 from the field and finished with a perfect 4-for-4 mark from long range. Her eight field goals tie a career-high and her 20 points sets a new season-high, besting her 11-point performance against Florida State.
Amaris Baker finished with 15 points on 7-for-13 shooting. The senior also finished with five rebounds and four assists.
Chloe Hodges rounded out Drexel's double-digit scorers, chipping in 10 points. Hodges also corralled seven rebounds and dished out four assists.
Drexel tied a program record on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons held LVC to just 30 points, that is the fewest points allowed by an opponent since Drexel held Hofstra to 30 points on January 6, 2008.
HOW IT HAPPENED
McCormack led the Dragons with seven points after the first 10 minutes of play. The graduate student shot 3-for-4 from the field and also hit a trey. Hodges also contributed six points to the effort on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting. The Dragons led LVC, 18-6, after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Drexel outscored Lebanon Valley, 16-9, to extend its lead to 19 points. McCormack led the Dragons once more, scoring five points to push her total to 12, a season-high. Baker scored four points in the second frame.
The Dragons poured on 25 points in the third frame and held the Flying Dutchmen to single digits at nine. Baker paced the Dragons with nine points, while McCormack scored six. At the end of the third quarter, Drexel led LVC, 59-24.
The Dragons scored 12 points and held LVC to just six points in the final frame. Six different Dragons scored points, including Mariah Watkins, who scored her first collegiate basket.

Drexel ends the nonconference schedule with a 4-6 mark and turns its attention to conference play once the calendars flip in January. The Dragons host Delaware on Friday, January 3 at 6 p.m. and then welcome Northeastern to the DAC on Sunday, January 5 at 2 p.m.
