Dragons Defeat Dickinson 9-0 in First Match of MASC Championships

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 9 Dragons opened the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Championships with a convincing 9-0 victory against No. 22 Dickinson. The win evened Drexel's record at 5-5 heading into the afternoon match against Stanford. Meanwhile, with the loss, Dickinson fell to 5-10.
Moa Bonnemark started things off with a quick victory in the six spot. She conceded just four points in the win against Victoria Savelius, winning 11-3, 11-1, 11-0. Ava Prokes picked up a sweep by downing Emerson Raines, 11-4, 11-2, 11-4 at the nine spot. Claudia Adam defeated Catel Moll in the seven spot, 11-7, 11-2, 11-9. Up next was Maddie Laine in the eight spot who defeated Elissa Goldman 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 in the eight spot. Emma Bartley competed in the four spot, earning a win against Whitney Finney, 11-6, 12-10, 11-5. Emi Falconi surrendered just seven points in an 11-1, 11-2, 11-4 win against Dickinson's Thea Hedge.
Sanya Vats defeated Kathryn Herring 11-9, 11-1, 11-3 at the third position. After Vats was Margot Prow who handed Amna Fayyaz an 11-5, 11-9, 14-12 defeat in the three spot. The final match-up at the two spot featured a hard-fought contest between Karina Tyma and Anne Leaky. Drexel's Tyma trailed 2-1 before taking the final two games, 7-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 11-5 as Drexel completed the sweep.
