WASHINGTON, D.C. – Chloe Hodges scored the game-winning point with three seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Drexel women's basketball team over the Towson Tigers, 69-68. The Dragons shot 45.6 percent from the field on Saturday night at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. to secure the program's ninth appearance in the championship game.

The Dragons accrued 16 points off turnovers and held Towson to just eight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel opened the game with an 18-point quarter, propelled by Erin Sweeney, who scored six points on two 3-pointers. Drexel shot 41.2 percent as a team and only turned the ball over once. Towson struggled in the first quarter, only scoring 10 points on 3-for-12 shooting. The Dragons went into the second quarter ahead by eight.
The Dragons poured on 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting. DU also earned five points from the charity stripe, knocking down each try. Towson scored 16 points, shooting slightly over 50 percent. Drexel went into the locker room ahead by nine.
Towson erased some of the Drexel lead in the third, outscoring the Dragons, 20-16. The Tigers went on a 5-point run in the middle of the quarter, which helped the team climb back into the game. Drexel entered the third quarter with a 51-46 lead.
Towson tied the game with 5:49 remaining in regulation. But the tie didn't last long, Drexel received a 3-pointer from Amaris Baker less than 20 seconds later. Drexel then extended the lead to five after Saatman drove to the basket and was successful. With less than a minute remaining and the Dragons up by two, the Tigers came away with a steal and took it to the bucket to tie the game at 67. The Tigers found their way to the free throw line and went 1-for-2 to take the lead. After Drexel turned the ball over with 14 seconds remaining, Towson had an empty trip at the charity stripe. The Dragons had an opportunity, with the clock winding down, to take the lead. After being fouled coming across halfcourt, Drexel drew up a play that beat the Towson defense and left Hodges alone in the paint, who laid the ball in without any pressure. Towson then called a timeout to advance the ball but could not find the bottom of the bucket.
UP NEXT
The Dragons return to the Entertainment and Sports Arena for one last time for the chance to win the program's third CAA Conference Title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Drexel will face the top-seeded Stony Brook Seawolves at 2 p.m. The game will be aired on the CBS Sports Network.
