Dragons to Compete for 2024 CAA Title Against Stony Brook on Sunday

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Drexel women's basketball team returns to the Entertainment and Sports Arena on Sunday to compete for the program's third conference title against the Stony Brook Seawolves at 2 p.m. The winner of the game will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. All action will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
CAA PREGAME GATHERING
Join fellow Dragons before the championship game on Sunday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Walter's Sports Bar (10 N St SE, Washington, DC 20003) in the D.C. Navy Yard. The pregame gathering includes light appetizers.
Last Time Out
Chloe Hodges scored the game-winning point with three seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Drexel women's basketball team over the Towson Tigers, 69-68. The Dragons shot 45.6 percent from the field on Saturday night at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. to secure the program's ninth appearance in the championship game.
Amaris Baker led the Dragons with 23 points on 9-for-16 shooting. Baker also corralled four rebounds and tallied two assists.
Hodges and Hetta Saatman each reached double-digits in the game. Hodges tallied 15 points, while Saatman reached 11.
Baker and Grace O'Neill each played all 40 minutes of the game. O'Neill finished with seven assists and six rebounds.
The Dragons accrued 16 points off turnovers and held Towson to just eight.
Baker Is On Fire
Amaris Baker has caught fire for Drexel in the final games of the season. The Junior transfer from Harcum leads the Dragons with 369 points scored this season. In conference play, the Philadelphia native has scored 290 points. More impressively, Baker has scored in double-digits for 10 straight games to end the season, including Drexel's game against Delaware in the second round, the quarterfinals game against Monmouth and the semifinals against Towson. In those 10 games, she has scored 169 points.

The Dragons and Seawolves meet for the third time this season and fifth time overall. The series is split at two games a piece, with Stony Brook taking both meetings this season.
Last Time Against Stony Brook
Amaris Baker tied a career-high 21 points as the Drexel women's basketball team fell short to the Stony Brook Seawolves, 60-58 on Friday, March 1 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
Baker finished the game, shooting 10-for-22, with five rebounds and three assists. The junior also contributed a full 40-minute performance for the second time this season.
Jasmine Valentine also tied a career-high in points with 11. The senior pulled in four boards and finished with a pair of steals.
The Dragons held the lead over the top team in the CAA for 32:45, leading by as much as 19 halfway through the third quarter. The Dragons held Stony Brook to just 7-for-21 in the first half and forced a season-high 24 turnovers for the Seawolves.
