Women's Tennis Sweeps Hofstra, 7-0

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team continued its success this spring with a 7-0 victory against CAA foe, Hofstra on Saturday afternoon.
Drexel jumped out to an early lead in its first conference match after sweeping the doubles point. Lorie Lemongo and Rebecca Fiedler took the top-seeded match, 6-0, while Elisa Rigazio and Maddie Ricardo took down the Pride in the No. 2 match, 6-1. In the third-seeded match, Isabel Cabrerizo and Adva Dabah defeated Hofstra, 5-2.
In singles play, Lemongo took care of business in the No. 1 match to earn Drexel its fourth point, 6-0, 6-3. Rigazio finished her second-seeded match, 6-1, 6-1 to keep the Pride off the board. Cabrerizo defeated Hofstra, 6-2, 6-3 from the third spot. Drexel took a 6-0 lead following the win.
Ricardo won 6-1, 6-1 in two sets from the fourth spot. Fiedler played strong in the fifth-seeded match to defeat Hofstra, 6-1, 6-2. In the sixth-seeded match, Bia Ibrahim needed three sets to complete the shutout for the Dragons, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6.
Drexel travels across the city to face Temple tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. Next weekend, the Dragons return to Vidas on Sunday, March 24 to face the Dayton Flyers at 1 p.m.
