"Because We Can"
The phrase "Because We Can" began as a pep talk by Head Coach Amy Mallon fueled the Dragons to win six-straight games and capture the program's third conference title. Since the team's game on the road at North Carolina A&T on March 7th, the phrase was written on a white board and displayed for the players in the locker room prior to each game. After the Dragons won the championship, the white board read, "Because We Did".
Lucky Number 7
The Dragons were selected seventh in the preseason poll and that is where they finished in the regular season. By chance, Drexel's seventh-straight win was the Championship game versus Stony Brook. There has only been two seventh-seeeded champions in the history of the CAA Tournament.
