Drexel’s Varsity 8+ Team Advances to Sunshine State Grand Final

SARASOTA, Fla. - The Drexel women's rowing team began day one of the Sunshine State Invitation Friday afternoon with the Varsity 8+ boat advancing to the Grand Final.

The Varsity 8+ team of Chloe Speciale (Coxswain), Julianna Rogers (Stroke), Kira Tracy, Taylor Powell, Mollie Knoff, Kayla Driscoll, Hannah Walseth, Baylor Henry, Sarah Ghazaz (Bow) finished fifth in their heat with a time of 7:17.33, which was fast enough to qualify. The top two in each heat automatically qualified, with the next four spots determined by overall time.

The 2nd Varsity 8+ also finished fifth in their heat, crossing the line at a time of 7:25.86. The Varsity 4+ team finished seventh with a time of 8:09.52. Both boats will compete in the Petite Final.

Action continues on Saturday with the first race kicking off at 8:20 a.m.
