WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Drexel women's rowing team won one of two races on the first day of the George Washington Invitational Friday afternoon.

The Second Varsity 8 team, competing in Alleva XVII, composed off Maddie Depommier (Coxswain), Ariana Townsend (Stroke), Jaelyn Walsh, Margaret Dobrenko, Katie Ernst, Baylor Henry, Rachel Civan, Maggie Horgan and Kieran Harrington (Bow) finished first over Old Dominion with a time of 6:34.0.

The Varsity 8 team, competing in Jim and Toni Downey, composed of Chloe Speciale (Coxswain), Julianna Rogers (Stroke), Sarah Ghazaz, Taylor Powell, Mollie Knoff, Fiona Steele, Rita Keefer, Kayla Driscoll and Kira Tracy (Bow) came across the line in second against Old Dominion with a time of 6:22.5.

Friday's Varsity 4 races were canceled due to high winds. Day two is set to kick on Saturday at 8 a.m.
