Men's Swimming and Diving Members Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Andrea Casini, Alessio Gianni, Jakub Kwasny and Nathan Piccolo of the Drexel men's swimming and diving team have been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District as announced by the organization.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be of a sophomore academic standing or higher with a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and be a key member of the team.
Casini helped the team to a silver in the 400 free relay at the 2024 CAA Swimming and Diving Championship, setting a new program record with a time of 2:54.72. The Florence, Italy native placed fifth in the 200 free and was one of the members of the 800 free relay team that finished with a fourth place finish at the 2024 CAAs. Casini has a 3.98 GPA as an Economics major.
Gianni won a bronze medal in the 200 fly at the 2024 CAAs. The Junior also helped the team to a fourth place finish in the 800 free relay and placed fifth in the 400 IM at the 2024 CAAs. In the classroom, the Sam Gimignano, Italy native has a 3.91 GPA as a Health Sciences major.
Kwasny won two gold medals at the 2024 CAAs, winning the 100 fly with a time of 45.61 and the 200 fly, hitting the wall at 1:43.77. The Chorzow, Poland native lead the team to silver medals in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay. The senior has set program records in the 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay and 200 free relay. Kwasny has a 3.66 GPA as a Finance major.
Piccolo helped lead the team to a silver medal in the 200 free relay at the 2024 CAAs. The Blackwood, N.J. native also guided the Dragons to a fourth place position in the 200 relay at the 2023 West Virginia Invitational. In the classroom, Piccolo is a Mechanical Engineering major with a 3.90 GPA.
All four student-athletes will now be moved on to the national Academic All-American ballot to be voted on by members of College Sports Communicators.
