Drexel Brings Home Sixth Consecutive Lela H. Kerr Cup at Kerr Cup Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's rowing team secured the Lela H. Kerr Cup for the sixth straight season at the Kerr Cup Regatta on Saturday.
The Dragons have taken home the cup 16 out of the last 21 years, named for the wife of the founder of Drexel rowing, Dr. Thomas Kerr.
The Varsity 8+ team cruised to victory over the second place boat of city rival LaSalle by over six seconds. The Boat of Chloe Speciale (Coxswain), Julianna Rogers (Stroke), Sarah Ghazaz, Fiona Steele, Mollie Knoff, Ariana Townsend, Kira Tracy, Kayla Driscoll and Rita Keefer (Bow) took Jim and Toni Downey to gold, with a time of 6:50.6.
The Second Varsity 8+ boat of Maddie Depommier (Coxswain), Margaret Dobrenko (Stroke), Jaelyn Walsh, Baylor Henry, Katie Ernst, Colette Zidek, Rachel Civan, Margaret Horgan, and Kieran Harrington (Bow) in Alleva XVII crossed in second place with a time of 7:02.5, just under three seconds behind first place Temple.
The Varsity 4+ team in Laura Ludwick White and Second Varsity 4+ team in Marci also came home with silver finishes, with times of 7:34.9 and 8:10.5 respectfully.
UP NEXT
The Dragons return to the Schuylkill River for the Kelly Cup on Saturday, April 27. Drexel will honor its seniors prior to the opening race.
