
Women's Basketball Falls to Hofstra, 60-53

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Drexel women's basketball was defeated by the Hofstra Pride on Sunday afternoon, 60-53, in Hempstead, N.Y. The Dragons fall to 6-7, 2-1 in the CAA, while Hofstra improves to 8-7, 3-1 CAA.
BY THE NUMBERS
Drexel received double-digit performances from three players in Sunday's contest. Amaris Baker led the Dragons with 14 points. The senior also added five rebounds and four assists.
Molly Lavin finished with 11 points. The junior tied a career-high mark from beyond the arc, hitting 3-for-7 treys.
Deja Evans rounded out Drexel's scorers in double figures with 10 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After one quarter of play, Hofstra led the Dragons, 12-8. The Dragons shot 4-for-12 and was not able to connect on a three-point attempt. For Hofstra, the Pride went 5-for-18 from the floor. Four different Dragons finished with two points. Evans made three blocks in the first 10 minutes of play.
Hofstra extended its lead to 14 points with 5:48 left in the second quarter, leading to Drexel using a 30-second timeout. Drexel trimmed the deficit slightly, but the Pride still held a 10-point advantage at the half. Baker paced the Dragons after the first half with nine points.
Drexel trimmed the double-digit deficit in the third quarter by outscoring the Pride, 14-13. Receiving four-point quarters from Baker and Evans, Drexel went 5-for-17 from the floor four turnovers defensively. Drexel trailed Hofstra 47-38 at the end of the third quarter.
Despite outscoring the Pride in the fourth quarter, Drexel was unable to overcome the deficit. The Dragons scored 15 points, while Hofstra scored 13.

Drexel continues its schedule on the road by traveling to Greensboro, N.C. on Friday, January 17 to face the North Carolina A&T Aggies at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the Dragons wrap its road trip with a trip to Hampton, Va. to face the Pirates at 2 p.m.
