PHILADELPHIA – Drexel men's tennis seeps Villanova 7-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Dragons start the season 1-0.
In doubles, Alex De Sousa and Roman Lafond led the way with a 7-6 (7-2) tiebreak win over Cooper Gordon and Kush Anand. Will Burridge and Hussein El Tawil claimed a 6-3 victory against Trey Fourticq and Thomas Wakefield, while Josue Guzman and Tiago Lima secured a 6-2 win against Will Monahan and Quincy Jones.
In singles, Drexel delivered a clean sweep across all six matches. Alex De Sousa battled through three sets to defeat Cooper Gordon 6-0, 4-6, 7-5, while Hussein El Tawil earned a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win over Will Monahan. Will Burridge cruised past Thomas Wakefield 6-1, 6-3, and Antonio Franquis edged out Trey Fourticq in a tight match, 6-1, 3-6, 10-7. Egor Kirakosov and Roman Lafond rounded out the sweep with straight-set victories, defeating Cameron Krueg (6-3, 6-3) and Kush Anand (6-2, 6-3).
The Dragons will be back in action Friday against Saint Joseph's. The match is set for 12:00pm.
