Dragons Complete Perfect Home Stand; Defeat Northeastern, 70-55

PHILADELPHIA – A 24-point performance by Amaris Baker helped complete Drexel's 2-0 start to conference play after defeating Northeastern, 70-55. The Dragons (6-6, 2-0 CAA), who held the lead for over 38 minutes, hit nine three-pointers and shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

Baker's 24 points is a new season-high for the senior. The Philadelphia native also added five rebounds and six assists to the stat sheet.
Chloe Hodges cracked double-digits for the fifth time this season, scoring 11 points on 5-for-13 shooting. Hodges also corralled six rebounds, dished three assists and came away with four steals.
The five Drexel starters all chipped in with atleast six points each. The starters also grabbed 28 of Drexel's 39 rebounds and picked up 14 of Drexel's 17 assists.
The Dragons forced 16 turnovers and turned them into 27 points. Drexel also earned 19 fast break points.
In its three-game home stand, Drexel held the lead for over 117 minutes of the 120 minutes of play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragons took a 10-point lead in the first quarter after shooting 9-for-21 and 3-for-7 from long range. The Dragons held the Huskies to just 5-for-14 from the field and forced five turnovers in the first 10 minutes of play. After the first quarter, Baker paced the Dragons with seven points, while Molly Lavin and Grace O'Neill each had six points.
Drexel's lead was extended to 16 points after outscoring the Huskies, 18-12 in the second quarter. Baker led the Dragons with 10 points in the second frame. Defensively, Drexel held Northeastern to just 3-for-11 from the field. At the end of the first half, Drexel led Northeastern, 41-25.
The Dragons and Huskies split the third quarter, each scoring 19 points in the frame. Chloe Hodges scored seven points, shooting 3-for-5 from the field and knocking down her only three-point attempt. The Dragons forced four turnovers during the third.
Northeastern was only able to outscore the Dragons 11-10 in the fourth quarter but the Huskies were not able to overcome the 15-point deficit. Hodges paced the Dragons in the frame with four points.

The Dragons have a bye on Friday and then will begin a three-game road stretch beginning with Hofstra on January 12 a 2 p.m. Action from Hempstead, N.Y., is slated for 2 p.m.
