ELON, N.C. — Four goals from Elon were too much as Drexel fell to the Phoenix, 4-1, Thursday night in Elon, North Carolina. Adriana Salzano scored late for her first career goal as the Dragons moved to 2-6-8 overall, with a 1-4-2 record in conference.
The Phoenix struck first in the 7th minute. Gabby Hoschek and Isa Murdock connected on a smooth one-two pass, with Hoschek firing through the net with the left foot.
In the 22nd minute, Megan Dyer helped double Elon's lead. Grace Gelhaus's shot from long range just clipped the crossbar, as Dwyer was quick to secure the rebound for the score. Dwyer added a goal of her own in the closing seconds of the half. She received the dish from Jess Beck from inside the box, hitting the bottom left pocket of the net.
In the 53rd minute, Talia Feigin found space downfield and tacked on Elon's fourth goal of the game. The Dragons got on the board in the 60th minute. Elise Duffy sent a cross into the box, where Salzano connected on a sliding kick for the score.
The Dragons continue their four-game road trip on Sunday as they battle Campbell. Action from North Carolina is set for 1 p.m. Sunday's match will not be streamed.
