Drexel Defeats Loyola (Md.), 66-57

PHILADELPHIA – For the first time since the 2010-11 season, the Drexel women's basketball team has started a season with a 4-0 record after the team defeated the Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds, 66-57, on Sunday afternoon at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
BY THE NUMBERS
Amaris Baker scored a game-high 20 points for the Dragons. The graduate student shot 8-for-15 from the field and made three treys.
Laine McGurk also sank three three-pointers and tallied 18 points in her fourth-straight double-digit performance.
Deja Evans tallied 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting and went 5-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Grace O'Neill played the full 40 minutes and with six points, eight assists and six rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Loyola began the game shooting 8-for-11 in the first frame, including hitting all four of its three-point attempts. The Dragons struggled in the first quarter, scoring 15 points. Baker paced the Dragons in first 10 minutes, knocking down two treys.
The Dragons scored another 15 points in the second quarter and held the visitors to nine. The Dragons took the lead with 16 seconds remaining in the first half after Grace O'Neill capped off a 12-point run with a three-pointer. DU entered the locker room with a one-point lead, 30-29.
Drexel held the lead through the third quarter, outscoring the Greyhounds, 17-13. Baker led the team with eight points and added three rebounds. McGurk chipped in a perfect third quarter, shooting a perfect 2-for-2 and connected from deep on a shot. Drexel entered the final frame ahead, 47-42.
Drexel poured on another 19 points in the fourth quarter to outscore the Greyhounds once more. The Dragons shot 7-for-9 from the field in the final frame and held Loyola to just 7-for-16. McGurk and Baker each chipped in six points. Evans scored five.

Drexel heads on the road on Wednesday November 19 to play Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. The Dragons and Lehigh are set to tip at 6 p.m. and action can be seen on ESPN+.
