Dragons Defeat Morgan State

BALTIMORE Md. – The Drexel Dragons defeated the Morgan State Bears, 71-66, at the Hill Field House in Baltimore. Eli Beard led the team with 15 points. With the win, Drexel improves to 4-4 on the season.

Beard also had two rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Villiam Garcia Adsten recorded his second career double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.
Shane Blakeney had 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and for the third straight game, he blocked two shots.
Drexel finished the night outrebounding Morgan State 41-27 and shooting a season high 80.8% from the free throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel jumped out to an early lead with back-to-back three-pointers from Eli Beard. Villiam Garcia Adsten, Shane Blakeney and Victor Panov all contributed to the scoring as the Dragons took a 16-4 lead with 12:34 remaining in the first. Morgan State fought back, but the Dragons held the lead. An Alfred Worrell Jr. layup cut the lead to three with 0:28 remaining before Josh Reed sank a last-second three to extend the lead going into the half. Reed's three put him at 101 career points.
The second half was a tight, hard-fought game. A Garcia Adsten layup with 17:07 remaining sparked a 9-2 run before the Bears came back and cut the lead to three with 10:41 remaining. The game remained close until the end, but Garcia Adsten and Blakeney made free throws to help seal the win for Drexel. The Dragons only turned the ball over three times in the second half and out-rebounded Morgan State 21-14.
