WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Drexel men's basketball team dropped a road game to the UNCW Seahawks on Wednesday, 65-53. Eli Beard led the team with 14 points.

BY THE NUMBERS
Beard finished the night shooting 44% from three in addition to pulling in a rebound and stealing the ball once.

Garfield Turner scored 13 while rebounding the ball six times and blocking a shot.

Victor Panov led the team with eight rebounds while also scoring eight and blocking a shot.

The Dragons outrebounded the Seahawks 39-36, and their defense allowed only three three-pointers all night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UNCW started the game on an 8-3 run before a run bookended by second-chance points from Beard and Turner put the Dragons ahead 10-8. The Seahawks tried to pull away, but a jump shot from Josh Reed and an and-one from Shane Blakeney cut the lead to five with 6:03 remaining. Drexel finished the first half on a 7-2 run to make the score 27-22.

Beard started the second half with a three before the Seahawks went on a 9-0 run. An and-one from Turner kicked off a 7-2 run for the Dragons. A 10-2 UNCW run was stopped when Reed sank a second-chance jump shot with 9:46 remaining. The Dragons did not allow a basket for the final six minutes of the game, but ultimately were unable to come back.
