Drake Scores 25 as Dragons Down William & Mary, 86-66

PHILADELPHIA - Jason Drake scored a career-high 25 points and Drexel's defense held one of the CAA's top 3-point shooting team to just five treys as the Dragons defeated William & Mary at the Daskalakis Athletic Center, 86-66.
The Dragons (13-11, 5-6) used a 16-4 run midway through the second half to take control of the game. At one point, Drexel made eight straight field goals, which included a pair of 3-pointers. Drake scored 10 straight points for the Dragons and at one point had 15 of their 18 points. The other three came from Yame Butler, who drained a corner 3-pointer. Drake ended the night with a career-high nine assists, committed just one turnover and sank three of his six long-range attempts.
Drexel had one of its more consistent nights from the floor. The Dragons shot 54 percent in the first half, and 64 percent over the game's final 20 minutes. They were 12-for-24 from deep. The defense, especially on the perimeter, was solid for most of the night. It held William & Mary (14-10, 8-3) well under its average of 80.7 points per game. The Tribe came into the game tied for second place in the CAA.
Butler added 18 points and was one of four players who had at least two treys in the game. Villiam Garcia Adsten continued to play well off the bench. The sophomore scored 13 on 5-for-7 shooting, handed out four assists and blocked three shots. Cole Hargrove had eight rebounds as the Dragons once again one the battle on the glass, outrebounding the Tribe by 10.
Drexel led 37-30 at intermission after Kevon Vanderhorst knocked down a 3-pointer in the closing seconds. The Dragons limited the Tribe to just 3-for-15 shooting from long distance and 36 percent overall in the first half. William & Mary forced Drexel into eight first half turnovers which kept the score close despite Drexel's hot shooting.
Gabe Dorsey led the Tribe with 17 points, while Kyle Pulliam had 15 before fouling out. Chase Lowe added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Drexel will be back at the DAC on Saturday afternoon when UNCW comes to Philadelphia. The Seahawks are in second place in the CAA after defeating Delaware on Thursday night. Game time is set for 2 p.m. and the contest can be seen live on the CBS Sports Network.
