Dragons and William & Mary to Face in CAA Semifinals

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 4 Drexel women's basketball teams and the No. 9 William & Mary Tribe are set to play in the first semifinal game of the Credit Union 1 2025 CAA Women's Basketball Championship on Saturday afternoon at the CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C. Tip is slated for 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
A 26-point performance by Cara McCormack propelled the fourth-seeded Drexel women's basketball team past the fifth-seeded Monmouth Hawks on Friday afternoon, 70-67, in the quarterfinals of the Credit Union 1 CAA Women's Basketball Championships.
Drexel corralled 48 rebounds, which sets a program record in the CAA tournament. Drexel grabbed 40 rebounds three times in the CAA Tournament, most recently against Charleston in the 2022 tournament. The Dragons also broke the team's offensive rebound mark, pacing the previous record of 15, set against Delaware in 2018, by 10 rebounds.
McCormack scored 21 of her 26 points in the second half, shooting 7-for-13 and 4-for-7 from deep. The graduate student also went 3-for-4 from the charity stripe.
Amaris Baker and Deja Evans ended the game with 10 points on Friday afternoon. Each made five field goals, and both were active on the boards. Baker grabbed seven offensive rebounds and added two defensive rebounds to post a season-high nine rebounds. Evans grabbed seven rebounds and blocked four shots in the effort.
Evans' four blocked shots moves the sophomore to seventh in the program's career blocked shots list.

Drexel and William & Mary have a storied history. THe two teams will be meeting for 52nd time on Saturday afternoon. The Dragons currently hold a 34-17 advantage over the Tribe and have won 7 of the past 10. In tournament play, the Dragons are 2-1 against the Tribe. The two teams have not met in the playoffs since 2019.
Last Time Against William & Mary
Three free throws by Chloe Hodges in overtime clinched the Drexel women's basketball team a victory against William & Mary on Friday night at the Daskalakis Athletic Center, 59-58. Hodges was fouled while taking a shot from behind the arc with half of a second left on the clock. The Dragons improve to 13-9 overall and 9-3 in CAA play, while the Tribe fall to 10-12 and have a 7-4 mark in conference.
Cara McCormack paced the Dragons with 20 points, tying a season-high. The graduate student shot 6-for-12 from the field and also found the bottom of the bucket on three shots from long range. McCormack also shot a 5-for-5 clip from the charity stripe.
Amaris Baker finished the game with 15 points on seven field goals.
Hodges pitched in with nine points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Deja Evans also scored nine points and finished with nine rebounds. The sophomore also recorded five blocks.
Despite William & Mary shooting 5-for-5 in the overtime period, Drexel was able to take the advantage with a pair of 3-point plays. McCormack tied the game at 56 points with a 3-pointer with 58 seconds remaining. Hodges connected on all three of her free throws to end the game and give Drexel the win.

Looking Ahead
With a victory, Drexel will play the victor of the Charleston and Campbell game in the conference's championship game at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The game will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network.
