
Dragon of the Week: Gragnani, Nicholas and Shortley

PHILADELPHIA - Anna Maria Gragnani, Drue Nicholas and Aidan Shortley named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopedics, for the week of March 10th-16th.
Anna Maria Gragnani, member of women's lacrosse, scored six goals on Drxel's 21-11 win over William and Mary last Friday. After William and Mary brought the score to 4-3 in the first quarter, Gragnani scored two goals in less than a minute to give the Dragons a 6-3 lead. The redshirt senior now has 30 goals on the season which ranks second in the CAA.
Drue Nicholas, member of men's golf, won The Peoples Championship at Sea Palms Resort in Georgia this past weekend. Nicholas shot a 5-under par 66 on the final day to claim his four career win at Drexel. Overall the graduate student shot 12 under over the three rounds, winning the event by three strokes.
Aidan Shortley, member of men's lacrosse, won 21 face-offs, 17 ground balls, and added two goals and an assist in Drexel's 13-10 win over Monmouth. Shortley went 21 for 25 on face-offs and his 17 ground balls were the most by a Drexel player since Jimmeh Koita had 18 against Towson in the CAA Tournament in 2019. The senior is first in the CAA in ground balls per game (7.13) and second in faceoff win percentage (58%).
