Drexel Downs Hampton on Senior Day, 2-0

PHILADELPHIA — The Drexel women's soccer team earned their first CAA victory as the Dragons took down Hampton Sunday afternoon, 2-0. Annie Clapp scored her first career goal as Jess Castorina scored another. The Dragons improves to 2-2-7 on the season, and 1-1-0 in conference play.
Drexel celebrated senior day, as Zara Wickert, Maggie Hall, Emily Daiutolo, Elise Duffy, and Lea Kemp were honored before the game.
The Dragons struck early in the 9th minute. Lea Kemp intercepted a Hampton throw-in at midfield and dished it to Clapp. Clapp tossed it down the middle of the box to Castorina who put it away with the right foot.
Drexel added another in the 82nd minute. Sora Marable found Daiutolo, who slipped a pass to Clapp. The junior raced through the hole to buried her first career goal through the bottom left pocket.
Wickert made her first career start in net, collecting three saves. as Sammy Widnick recorded two. Daiutolo also made her first career start and played a career best 59 minutes.
Drexel travels to Boston, Mass. on Sunday, September 28 to battle Northeastern. Action is set for 1 p.m.
