PHILADELPHIA – Drexel field hockey earned its second win of the weekend on Sunday afternoon, defeating Maine, 2-1, at Buckley Field. With the result, the Dragons improved to 6-4 overall and remain 1-0 in CAA play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragons wasted no time getting on the board as Valentine Van Hellemont scored in the third minute, assisted by Marti Sanabria. Drexel doubled its lead midway through the second quarter when Pili Lemoine tallied her second goal of the year.
Maine cut the deficit in the 48th minute, but Drexel's defense held firm to secure the 2-1 victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
Drexel outshot Maine 17-7, including a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.
Van Hellemont's goal was her second of the year, while Lemoine now leads the Dragons in points with seven.
Goalkeeper Alana Poole earned the win with four saves in a complete-game effort.
Sanabria recorded her second assist of the season.

The Dragons return to conference play on Friday, October 3, hosting La Salle at Buckley Field. Start time is set for 4 p.m. in Philadelphia.
