Sammy Widnick Named CAA Defensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. — Sammy Widnick of Drexel women's soccer has been named CAA Defensive Player of the Week. This is the goalkeeper's second weekly conference award this season.
Widnick recorded three saves in Drexel's scoreless draw with Northeastern Sunday afternoon. The sophomore earned her sixth clean sheet of the season, tying for the most in the conference, while helping the Dragons match Elon with seven overall. The Harrisburg, Pa., native has yet to concede a goal in CAA competition in 225 minutes played.
The Central Dauphin product is second in the CAA in goal-against average (.783) and fourth in save percentage (.743). Widnick has collected 26 saves in 11 appearances between the posts.
