Dragon of the Week: Evans and Blakeney

PHILADELPHIA – Deja Evans and Shane Blakeney named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the week of January 6th–12th.
Deja Evans, a member of the women's basketball team, turned in a pair of strong performances during Drexel's two conference matchups last week. The junior scored a season-high 20 points while grabbing a team-best eight rebounds in a narrow loss at Stony Brook. She followed with another 20-point outing in Drexel's 67-38 victory over Hofstra, shooting 8-for-10 from the field and helping the Dragons secure their first CAA win of the season. The Conshohocken, Pa. native recorded back-to-back 20-point games for the first time this year.
Shane Blakeney, a member of the men's basketball team, helped Drexel extend its homestand with wins over Stony Brook and William & Mary. The junior scored 11 points against the Seawolves, marking his 13th game this season in double figures, and added 13 points in the victory over the Tribe. The Rock Hill, S.C. native also contributed six rebounds, five assists and a block against William & Mary as the Dragons held both opponents under 40 percent shooting.
