Wrestling Dominates Bloomsburg and Ohio to Begin Mid-Major Duals

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Drexel wrestling team finished day one of the NWCA Mid-Major Duals with a pair of victories over Bloomsburg and Ohio. The Dragons began the Dual with a 41-3 win over the Huskies, followed by another impressive win against the Bobcats, 37-6. DU won 17 of their 20 matches, as seven Dragons saw their hand raised in both contests.
Match 1
Drexel won eight straight matches to start the dual. Desmond Pleasant and No. 33 Kyle Waterman collected back-to-back tech falls, giving Drexel the 10-0 advantage. Jordan Soriano followed with his first of two falls on the day at 141lbs, getting the finish in the second period.
Patrick Kelly bounced back with a victory at 149 pounds. The freshman picked up his fourth win of the season with a hard-fought 7-5 decision. Luke Nichter followed at 157lbs, shutting out his opponent with a 4-0 decision win. Walsh earned the Dragons their third straight decision victory, defeating Braidon Woodward 7-2.
At 174 pounds, Jasiah Queen delivered a dominant performance, recording his second consecutive technical fall of the season. Ethan Wilson added the second pin of the dual with a fall in the second period. Nate Schon closed things out at heavyweight, getting the 20-5 tech fall win.

Drexel once again got the momentum on their side early, winning six consecutive matches to kick off match two. Desmond Pleasant opened the match with a come from behind victory at 125lbs, getting the 18-12 decision win.
No. 33 Kyle Waterman and Jordan Soriano followed with back-to-back pins. Waterman secured his fall in the second period, while Soriano took care of business in just 20 seconds, marking his third pin of the season.
Deon Pleasant secured his first dual win of the season at 149lbs, as Luke Nichter got the victory over No. 26 Derek Raike via injury. Cody Walsh closed the winning streak out with a shutout 4-0 win.
Ethan Wilson pulled off the upset at 184 pounds, knocking off No. 15 Sal Perrine. The redshirt junior delivered a commanding performance, cruising to a 17-4 major decision. Nate Schon followed with the Dragons' fifth technical fall of the day, earning an 18-3 victory.
