Dragons Open Final Weekend Homestand Against Northeastern on Friday

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's basketball team is set to open its final weekend of home games in the 2025-26 campaign. On Friday night, Drexel welcomes the Northeastern Huskies to the DAC for game two of the two-game series. Tip against the Huskies is set for 6 p.m. on NBC Sports Philadelphia and FloCollege.

Last Time Out
A layup by Deja Evans with seven seconds remaining secured a 63-61 victory for Drexel against William & Mary on Sunday afternoon in Williamsburg, Va. The Dragons erased a 14-point deficit to earn the team's 17th win of the season and 10th win in conference play.

Drexel didn't take its first lead until there were 21 seconds left in the game. A pass from the backcourt to a streaking Bria Watkins gave Drexel a one-point lead. Watkins finished with eight points and three assists. Both stats are career-high's for the freshman.

Evans finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in Sunday's contest. The junior made eight field goals.

Amaris Baker also scored 16 points on eight field goals. The graduate student also added five rebounds and three assists, along with two steals.

Laine McGurk 15 points with three longballs, six rebounds, two assists and three steals.

All-Time Series
Drexel and Northeastern are set to meet for the 66th time on Friday afternoon. The series between the two teams first started on January 24, 1992 and saw Northeastern jump out to an 11-1 lead. Since then, Drexel has dominated the series with a 33-20 record. Drexel has won 10 of the last 11 matchups and has a 20-8 record when playing at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Drexel currently has a four-game winning streak.

Last Time Against Northeastern
The Drexel women's basketball team defeated the Northeastern Huskies on Sunday, 65-56. The Dragons have now won five-straight games, marking a new season-high. DU improved to 6-3 in conference play and 13-7 overall.

Laine McGurk scored 24 points on 9-for-15 shooting. The junior's 24 points is her second highest this season. McGurk made eight shots and also corralled five rebounds. It is the third time that she has scored more than 20 points this season and fifth in her career.

Amaris Baker scored 21 points and also grabbed three rebounds and dished one assist. It is the 11th time this season that Baker crossed the 20-point mark. Her 21 points also pushes her Drexel career points to 1,290 points and sole possession of 16th in program history.

The last time Drexel had two players score north of 20 points was against Chestnut Hill on December 16, 2025. Baker scored 26 points, while Iriona Gravely scored 23.

Looking Ahead
Drexel is set to wrap up its home slate on Sunday, March 1 against the North Carolina A&T Aggies. Prior to the game, the Dragons will recognize the graduating seniors: Grace O'Neill, Amaris Baker and Jalyn McNeill. Action from the DAC is slated for 2 p.m. on FloCollege.
