Drexel's Run at CAA Championship Ends in Semifinals; Edged in Overtime by Hofstra, 53-49

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Drexel women's basketball team saw its championship run end in the CAA's conference tournament on Saturday evening, falling in overtime to the Hofstra Pride, 53-49.
BY THE NUMBERS
Amaris Baker led the Dragons with 19 points on eight field goals. The graduate student also corralled nine rebounds.
Deja Evans finished the game with her fourth double-double of the season. The junior scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hofstra took the early lead after one quarter of play, outscoring Drexel, 14-11. While both teams made five field goals, Hofstra found the bottom of the basket twice to take the three-point advantage. McGurk led the Dragons with five points after 10 minutes of play.
The Dragons took back the lead in the second quarter, holding the Pride to five points in 10 minutes and scoreless since 7:05 remaining in the quarter. Drexel scored all 11 points without conceding points. Deja Evans led the Dragons with four points in the frame to give Drexel a three-point lead heading into the second half.
The two teams scored 12 points apiece in the third frame to hold a three-point lead heading into the final frame. Baker scored six points, while Evans added four. The Drexel defense held Hofstra to just 4-for-11 in the third frame, but Hofstra converted on both deep shots.
Hofstra tied the game up in the fourth quarter and sent it to overtime. Down two with three seconds remaining, Hofstra intercepted an inbound pass and took it to the rim on the other end to tie the game at 44 points.
Hofstra outscored Drexel, 9-5 in overtime to defeat the Dragons. The Pride scored seven unanswered points before Drexel scored its third point of the frame.
