PHILADELPHIA — Matthew Kennedy of the Drexel men's rowing team has been named to the IRCA 2026 Athlete Watchlist, as announced by the organization Tuesday.
Kennedy was a member of the Dragons Varsity 4+ that qualified for the Second Final at the IRA National Championships last season. The junior captured bronze at the Dad Vail Regatta, helping secure the men's title for the fourth consecutive season and a second straight overall team championship. The Wyndmoor, Pa., product also qualified to represent Team USA at the U23 World Championships last year.
The caliber of rowing within the IRA continues to rise, driven by the character, leadership, and performance of the 82 athletes selected from a record pool of nominees submitted by IRCA member schools. This year's list features IRA National Champions, World Champions, Olympians, U23 and Henley Royal Regatta medalists, as well as team captains and emerging talents across all three divisions. These athletes not only excel on the water but also serve as leaders within their programs, helping elevate the standard of performance and sportsmanship across Division I/II, Division III, and lightweight men's rowing.
