Men’s Rowing Sweeps Georgetown and Holy Cross

FAIRFAX STATION, Va. — No. 16 Drexel men's rowing team swept nationally ranked Georgetown and Holy Cross Sunday morning on the Occoquan River. The Varsity 8+, 2nd Varsity 8+, 3rd Varsity 8+, and 4th Varsity 8+ each claimed victories as the Dragons continued to build momentum ahead of the Bergen Cup.
The team of Luke Joseph (Coxswain), Ben Werber (Stroke), Willem Kirsch, Matthew Kennedy, Milo Epstein, Kyle Brown, Jakob Mauntel, Jono Andersson and Justus Bormann (Bow) rowed Lois Krall IV to a time of 5:36.04, their quickest of the spring. The Dragons crossed the line just .76 seconds ahead of the second place Hoyas.
The 2V8+ cruised to a nearly six-second victory over Holy Cross, while the 3V8+ pulled out a 1.21-second win. The 4V8+ finished the day with a 6.21-second victory, as the 5V8+ came home in third.
The Dragons return to the water on Saturday, April 25 for the Bergen Cup on the Schuylkill River.
