PHILADELPHIA - Drexel Athletics set a new record, raising $572,753 to support student-athletes during Drexel Giving Day on April 14. Collectively, more than 1,800 unique donors made gifts to support varsity and club student-athletes, accounting for over 70 percent of the total donations made across the University that day.
"Giving Day was a tremendous success for our department, breaking past years' records. Our students, alumni, families, friends and fans showed their support by investing in Drexel Athletics as we continue to pursue excellence in all arenas. We intentionally focused on exceeding our cash gift goal to highlight the critical importance of annual giving as a lifeline for our department. The results reflect not only the generosity of our community, but also the dedication and hard work of our coaching staff, led by the outstanding efforts of AVP/Sr. Associate AD Bryan Davis and Associate Director of Development for Athletics and Affinity Groups, Phil Denne, whose leadership helped drive this day forward," said Director of Athletics Maisha Kelly.
Women's Rowing was the top athletic program, raising $68,652, followed by Men's Lacrosse with $60,271. Wrestling ($53,255), Women's Lacrosse ($49,338), Men's Rowing ($48,158), Athletics Unrestricted ($55,945), and Men's Basketball ($33,956) also topped $30,000 in support. Women's Swimming and Diving led all athletic programs with 325 donations from 245 donors.
In total, the University raised over $890,000 in support of student success. This included more than 2,800 donations to campus organizations and support areas. For results and to view the leaderboard, visit givingday.drexel.edu.
