Dragons Take Down NJIT on the Road, 2-1

NEWARK, N.J. — Reese Power and Alex Rivera both scored as the Drexel women's soccer team earned their first road victory of the season over NJIT, 2-1. The Dragons improve to 2-2-1 on the season.
DU opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Emma Herko sent a free kick into the box that deflected off a Highlanders defender and fell to Reese Power. The sophomore got a touch with her right foot, sending the ball into the back of the net for her first of the season.
NJIT scored the equalizer in the 35th minute. Mathilda Hellmich found Kirra Hyder, who finished the opportunity to even the match at one.
The Dragons scored the winning goal with just 38 seconds remaining in the first half. Sora Marable found Nia Chinapoo, who sent a cross into the left side of the box for Alex Rivera, who finished the strike for the game-winning goal.
The Dragons return to Vidas Field for a four game homestand as they battle Lehigh on Thursday, September 3. Action is set for 6 p.m.
