2007: One of the team’s fastest in the backstroke events…led the team in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.69 at the Maryland Terrapin Cup Invitational…touched the wall in 54.23 in the 100 backstroke, the team’s second-fastest time of the season…recorded a personal best in the 500 freestyle (4:47.71)…won the 500 freestyle in the season opener against Howard (5:02.45)… a member of the 400 medley relay team that finished third at the CAA Pod Meet.
2006: Had a solid sophomore season…swam a 1:44.18 in the 200-yard freestyle at Rutgers…recorded a time of 26.31 in the 50-yard backstroke at the CAA Pod meet, his fastest time of the season…also performed for Drexel in the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.18) and 100-yard backstroke (53.28)…had his best times in both of those events at Rutgers.
2005: A member of the Turkish national team…competed in the 800-meter freestyle relay at the World University Games with former Drexel teammate Barbaros Cem Pasaoglu…also swam the 200-meter backstroke at the World University Games…broke the school record in the 200-yard backstroke (1:51.02) and finished third at the CAA championships…ranks fifth on Drexel’s all-time list in the 100 backstroke (52.72)…posted a top-five time for the season in the 50 backstroke (26.32) and the 500 free (4:53.05)…member of the winning 800-yard freestyle relay team at the CAA Championships…earned All-CAA honors in the 800 free relay.
Background: Finished third in the 200 backstroke at the 2004 Ballean Junior Games.
Personal: Son of Arif Metin and Gungor Hulagu…majoring in finance – operations management.
