AJ DiGennaro was named Drexel's assistant golf coach during the 2015-16 season. He started as an interim coach, but was quickly named the assistant during the summer of 2016. DiGennaro has helped Ben Feld turn the Dragons' program into a perennial contender for the Colonial Athletic Association title. The Dragons finished second in the CAA in 2021 and have third place finishes in 2018, 2022 and 2023. Last season, the team set a record by winning five events, including all four of their tournaments in the fall.
DiGennaro came to Drexel in the fall of 2011. He was a graduate assistant in the ACHIEVE Center and graduated in 2013 with his master's degree in secondary education. He was named Drexel’s Events Coordinator in October of 2013 and promoted to Manager, Business Development in 2019, where he oversaw all external and department rentals of athletic facilities. DiGennaro was also the liaison for the Dragons’ varsity squash program before moving across campus, where he is currently Drexel's Director of Regional Alumni Networks in the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Before arriving at Drexel, he was the assistant golf course superintendent at Garden City Golf Club, Philadelphia Cricket Club and most recently at Aronimink Golf Club, which hosted the 2010 AT&T National. He has also served as a quality assurance and account manager at an internet start-up company (mySimon.com), and for the parent company, CNET Networks, in San Francisco.
DiGennaro received his undergraduate degree from Delaware in 1998. He was a double major in operations management and finance. DiGennaro was a four-year member of the golf team there. As a senior, he was captain of the America East Conference championship team and was a First Team All-America East selection.
He currently lives in New Jersey with his wife, Joann, and their daughter Aria Jane.
