2008-09: Earned All-CAA honors in the 200 fly for the second consecutive season…took third in the finals of the 200 fly at the CAA Championships…shattered 18-year-old record in the 100 fly when he posted a 49.21 in the finals of the CAA Championships to take fifth place…member of the Dragons’ top medley relay team.
2007-08: All-CAA swimmer in 100 and 200 fly…took second in the 200 fly and third in the 100 fly at the CAA Championships…his time of 49.70 at the CAA Championships ranked second-fastest ever at Drexel…clocked third-fastest time in Drexel history (1:51.30) in the 200 fly at the conference championships…swam third leg of 400 medley relay at CAA’s that broke a 16-year-old Drexel record with a time of 3:25.84…helped break 17-year-old 200 medley relay Drexel record with a time of 1:33.73.
2006-07: Posted times that ranked him among the top-three on Drexel’s all-time performance list at the Maryland Terrapin Cup Invitational: the 200 butterfly (1:52.64) and the 100 butterfly (50.16)…qualified and competed at the United States Open in the 100-meter butterfly, finishing 21st in the finals of the 100-meter butterfly with a personal-best time of 56.31…won the 100 and 200 butterfly and the 200 medley relay against Delaware…took the top honors against Howard in the 50 and 100 butterfly and the 200 medley relay… a member of the 200 and 400 medley relay teams that finished third at the CAA Pod Meet.
Background: A standout swimmer from Italian High School in Istanbul, Turkey…a 17-18 age group Turkish national record-holder in the 50 butterfly…finished eighth in the 50 butterfly at the European Junior Championship.
Personal: Son of Kemal and Nilgun Karsiyakalilar…majoring in computer science.
