2016-17: Finished with a 19-12 record playing primarily No. 1 singles and a 19-10 record playing primarily No. 2 doubles with Youssef Lahlou…named an All-CAA Second Team singles selection…named CAA Performer of the Week on March 1 and CAA Doubles Performer of the Week on Feb. 1 and April 11…earned the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award...helped the Dragons to match the single-season program record for wins with a 13-8 (2-1 CAA) mark…had season-long winning streaks of five in singles and six in doubles…qualified to play main draw singles and main draw doubles at ITA Northeast Regionals…defeated Penn’s Dan Harris, 7-5, 6-2, in Flight 3 singles and advanced to the third round in Flight 3 doubles with wins over Penn and Drexel at the Ivy-Plus Invitational…earned a first-round win over Danilo Vukotic of Fairleigh Dickinson, 7-5, 6-4, in Flight 1 singles at the Princeton Invitational and also competed in Flight 1 doubles…crowned the Flight 1 singles and Flight 1 doubles championship at the Lehigh Invitational…won both the Flight 2 single and the Flight 2 doubles titles at the Saint Joseph’s Invitational.
2015-16: CAA Commissioner's Academic Award recipient...recorded a 11-8 record in singles, playing primarily at Nos. 3 and 4…went 7-10 in doubles play, playing primarily with partners Daniil Ginzburg and Balaji Lakshmanan…helped the men’s team to its first 13-win season in program history…named the CAA Men’s Doubles Performer of the Week with Lakshmanan on Feb. 24…earned a three-set win, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, to help the Dragons to their first ever win over James Madison…forced a third set in No. 4 singles against William & Mary at the CAA Championships…fought to a 7-5, 7-6 (2) win over Hofstra…came back from a set down to earn the 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4 win against Saint Joseph’s…earned the 6-4, 6-2 win against Colgate…won a three-set match, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 against city rival Villanova… won twice on the Dragons’ trip to Connecticut against Sacred Heart and Fairfield…earned a tough win over Morgan State, 7-5, 6-2.
2014-15: Went 15-2 in singles during his freshman season, including 12-1 from the No. 5 singles position…won seven straight matches to close out the regular season…CAA Co-Player of the Week on April 14…Colonial Marble Athlete of the Week on March 31…one of two Dragons to record a win against Lehigh, James Madison and Hofstra…finished the regular season with a 6-4, 7-5 win…earned a 6-2, 6-3 win against Saint Joseph’s to help the Dragons to the team’s most wins in school history…beat Temple in three sets to help the Dragons to a third-place finish at the Philly Six Invitational.
Background: Comes to Drexel from Boca Preparatory School… younger brother of former Drexel tennis number one, Omar Laalej… won the North African ITF held in Morocco, and has also won four Super Series and local USTA tournaments…has represented Morocco in the All Arab tournament in Tunisia, where he placed fourth in doubles individuals, and took home second at the number one position.
Personal: Son of Atika Mokdad and Abdelali Laalej…plans on majoring in business and engineering.
