“We are very excited to have Stephen join us for this upcoming season,” Mallon said. “The experience he will bring along with his tremendous work ethic will truly impact our program. I am excited to guide Stephen as he continues to grow in the game. He is no stranger to college women’s basketball as Stephen began attending college practices at a young age with his father, Harry Perretta, the Head Villanova Women’s Basketball Coach from 1978-2020, where he gained a passion and love for the game that shows in his everyday approach to teaching the game”
During his time in New York, Perretta was responsible for developing guards and scouting for the Gaels. As a recruiting coordinator, he ensured that the team operated within the NCAA’s Compliance legislature.
Perretta made his coaching debut as a Graduate Assistant for FDU, where he was responsible for scouting reports and recruiting for the Knights. He also helped plan and organize the teams’ travel plans. In his second season, Perretta was elevated to an assistant coach role. As an assistant coach, Perretta was responsible for practice times, lifting times and the development of the guards.
Perretta earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Villanova in 2021 and a master’s degree from FDU in sport management in 2024.
