Paul Mansfield swam for four seasons at Drexel and served as a captain or co-captain in three of his four years in University City. He was the East Coast Conference champion in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke in 1777, 1978 and 1979. He was voted the outstanding swimmer in the ECC in 1979, when he was also a first-place finisher in the 200-yard individual medley. Mansfield represented Drexel in four-straight years (1976-79) in the Eastern Seaboard Swimming championships and was an NCAA Championship participant in 1977. Mansfield received both the Major Greene Award (1977) and the Lt. Greene Award (1979).
In addition to his accomplishments in the pool, Mansfield also earned a letter in crew and was a finalist in the pairs event at the Dad Vail Regatta. After Drexel, Mansfield went on to graduate from Jefferson University Medical School in 1983.
