Elegar Leads Dragons Past Holy Family in Exhibition Play, 88-79

Drexel's Frank Elegar had 23 points and 10 rebounds in just 22 minutes of play as Drexel defeated Holy Family in exhibition men's basketball action, 88-79, at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Elegar was 7-for-9 from the floor and also blocked a pair of shots.
The Dragons led by as many as 20 points in the second half before the Tigers made a late run, keyed by Michael Sturns. The senior had seven of his nine three pointers in the second half, and finished with a game-high 30 points.
Elegar was one of four Dragons who finished in double figures. Tramayne Hawthorne had 17 points and made five three pointers, while freshman Gerald Colds had 15 points. Sophomore Evan Neisler, a transfer from Boston College, chipped in with 12 points. Freshman Jamie Harris handed out nine assists in his first collegiate game. The Dragons shot 53 percent from the floor. Holy Family shot just 35 percent in the game, but made 11 three-pointers including eight in the final half.
The Dragons open the 2007-08 season on Nov. 9 against Penn in the Palestra. Their first home game is on Nov. 11 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center against Navy. It will be the opening game of the Philly Classic.
