Dragons Drop Home Opener to Towson, 180-112

Philadelphia - The Drexel women's swimming & diving team fell to Towson, 180-112, at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Tigers opened the meet with first and second place finishes in the first two events and never look back en route to the victory.
Drexel's Katie McCann had the home crowd on its feet after taking the 200 free over Towson's Meredith Budner as the senior finished 0.18 seconds ahead to give the Dragons its first victory of the day. McCann would take the 100 free and 100 butterfly events as well. Maria Coman earned first place in the 100 back with a time of 59.47 and gave the Dragons an additional nine points with a win in the 200 back.
Kate Hynes continued her fantastic season with victories in the 1- and 3-meter dives. The junior racked up 319.12 points in the 3-meter and 295.65 on the 1-meter board.
The Dragons return to action on Jan. 26 with a trip to Storrs, Conn. to face the University of Connecticut and Rhode Island.
