Brown Outlasts Drexel, 22-15

Providence, R.I. - The Drexel wrestling team dropped a 22-15 decision to Brown in a non-conference match held on Brown's campus. The Dragons earned bonus points in all three of their victories but it was not enough as the Bears improved to 4-4 while Drexel fell to 8-8 on the season. The match was the first of the day for the Dragons as the team will head to Boston to face the Terriers of Boston University at 8:00 p.m.
Sophomore Scott Hunter got the Dragons off to a quick start as he earned a major decision victory over Kasey McCurdy, 12-3. The Bears took the next three matches by decision to take a 9-4 lead. Junior Steve Mytych responded by knotting the match score with a technical fall of Nathan Myers at 6:17. For the 11th-ranked Mytych it was his 26th win of the season. Brown rebounded with a win by major decision at 133 pounds then two more wins by decision to open up a 19-9 lead.
Senior Ryan Hluschak took a chunk out of the lead by pinning Tom Fazio at 5:15 to record his 22 win in 24 matches this season. With the Brown lead down to four points, Drexel Head Coach Jack Childs sent Billy Haydt to the mat at 165 pounds. Haydt was unable defeat the Bears' Chris Musser as Musser earned a 5-1 decision.
