Dragons Fall at Rider, 19-14

Lawrenceville, N.J. - The Drexel wrestling team dropped a 19-14 decision to Rider in a Colonial Athletic Association match. The Dragons won four of the first seven matches but the Broncs rallied to sweep the final three to earn the victory. With the loss, Drexel dropped to 9-11 (4-2 CAA).
Junior Steve Mytych opened the match with his 12th major decision victory of the season to give Drexel an early 4-0 lead. The Broncs took the next two matches by decision but at 149 pounds Drexel's Lewis Baker earned a 7-2 decision to give the Dragons a 7-5 advantage. Senior Ryan Hluschak followed with a victory of his own to push his season record to 26-2 as he defeated Rob Morrison, 7-2. Jason Lepham topped Billy Haydt, 2-1, in overtime to take the 165-pound bout but Scott Hunter earned a four-point technical fall to give the Dragons a 14-8 lead heading into the final three matches. Rider earned major decision victories at 184 and 194 pounds then clinched the match at 285 pounds as Ed Bordas defeated Bryant Deinhardt, 1-0.
The Dragons return to CAA action on Tuesday, Feb. 12 with a match at Hofstra. The first bout will begin at 7:00 p.m.
