Dragons Rebound to Drop Bucknell, 16-12

Lewisburg, Pa. - The Drexel women's lacrosse team snapped its two-game losing skid to defeat Bucknell, 16-12, in the Dragons' final non-conference game of the season. The Bison had won three straight games but had their record dip to 5-4 this season while Drexel improved to 8-3 including a perfect 7-0 mark on the road.
Drexel used an 8-0 run in the first half after trailing 3-2 early in the game. Katie Bradley opened the run with 16:52 remaining with her first goal of the game while Jessica Bill tallied her second, third and fourth goal of the contest in the stint. Kaitlin Keegan also played a vital role as she contributed both of her goals and one of her two assists as the Dragons led 10-3 with just under six minutes remaining in the first period. The Bison finally ended the run with five minutes to go with a goal but Gwenna Johnson responded with her first goal of the game to restore the Dragons' seven goal lead heading into intermission.
Just 22 seconds into the second half, Sarah Carter scored an unassisted goal to extend Drexel's lead to 12-4. Bucknell made a bid to start a comeback by scoring the next two goals but Drexel sophomore Becca Drylie-Perkins scored two straight goals while Nicole Iacono added a goal on an Amanda Gregg assist to put the game out of reach with Drexel ahead, 15-6, with 14:12 remaining in the game. The Dragons would hold on win 16-12.
Eleven different Dragons tallied a point in the victory with Bill's five points leading the way. Sarah Carter picked up a team-high four groundballs while Katie Bradley registered four draw controls. Goalie Lauren LaBella made six saves while allowing six goals in recording the victory in goal. Rachael Behrndt played just over 14 minutes in the cage and registered three saves.
The Dragons will return to Colonial Athletic Association action on Friday, April 4 with a trip to Delaware. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
