Philadelphia – Drexel University student-athletes Gabriela Marginean, Sarah Carter, L.C. Moerschel and William Martin have been recognized as 2008 National Strength and Conditioning Association All-Americans. Marginean is a member of Drexel's women's basketball and women's tennis team while Carter is a midfielder on the women's lacrosse team. Moerschel is a midfielder on the men's lacrosse team while Martin competes at 133 pounds on Drexel's wrestling team. The four recipients were announced by Drexel Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Mike Rankin.
In just her sophomore year, Marginean has received many on-court honors including First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association in women's basketball and Third Team All-CAA in women's tennis. For her hard work in the weight room and conditioning, Marginean was selected as an NSCA All-America Award recipient.
Carter, a senior, has been one of the team's most dedicated, hard working and positive leaders in the varsity weight room. Carter is a lead by example type of athlete and has shown consistent improvement since her arrival on campus.
Moerschel has been one of the hardest workers in the weight room as he demands improvement from himself and those around him. The senior has served as a consistent leader who has helped himself and his team to reach new heights.
Martin, a senior 133-pound wrestler, finished third at the CAA Championships in 2007. Martin's dedication has been evident in his constant drive for improvement in every athletic aspect on and off the mat. In the weight room, Martin is always the first to arrive and the last to leave.
The NSCA All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year program recognizes those collegiate athletes, whose athletic accomplishments, in the opinion of their strength coach, reflect their dedication to strength training and conditioning. These athletes are also recognized for their academic and personal accomplishments and their integrity as student-athletes.
