Varsity Eight Takes Second in Petite Final of Knecht Cup

Philadelphia - Drexel women's varsity eight claimed second place in the Knecht Cup petite final on Sunday, April 13. The Drexel novice eight earned a berth in the grand final in preliminary action and took sixth place in the grand final. The Knecht Cup, held on the Schuylkill River and hosted by Villanova, featured some of the premiere rowing programs in the region.
The Dragons' varsity eight boat finished with a time of 6:55.7 in the petite final earning second place. Colgate won the petite final with a time of 6:52.0. Holy Cross and Marist took third and fourth place, respectively.
Drexel's novice eight placed sixth in the grand final with a time of 7:39.0 after two solid runs in the preliminary heat and the semifinal heat. University of North Carolina won the grand final, which included the top novice boat from UMass, Boston College, Rhode Island and UConn.
